On the 2022 Israel Ride, the Desert Dawgs boasted a spirited team of 23 riders and "Chaverim." Sadly, a few months before the Ride, the team's co-captain, Dan Richter suffered a stroke. Since Dan would no longer be able to ride, the Desert Dawgs included him by carrying a life-size cardboard cutout of Dan throughout the route. The cutout was fondly known as "Flat Dan."
